Switchyard Cap in Indigo Stripe

Switchyard Cap in Indigo Stripe Switchyard Cap in Indigo Stripe Switchyard Cap in Indigo Stripe Switchyard Cap in Indigo Stripe Switchyard Cap in Indigo Stripe Switchyard Cap in Indigo Stripe

Inspired by mid-century railroad men's hats, particularly the "balloon cap" which was an alternative to the more common Utility Cap a.k.a. "Engineers Cap".  I've reduced the crown height compared with the originals, but kept the construction details as period correct as possible.

For the fabric I've used an indigo and white stripe twill from Kurabo Mills in Japan.  It's the last of my stash of this fabric so these are all that will be made.  For the underbill I've used OD cotton sateen from vintage U.S. Army fatigues.

Each cap has been hand-crafted using a Circle A Brand original pattern and sewn on vintage industrial sewing machines.
